HOW TO MAKE The Corpse REviver No.2 (A Gin Cocktail)

There were numerous “Corpse Revivers” dating back to the mid-1800s. The idea is that one of these will revitalize a drinker, the original “hair of the dog” cocktails if you will. I believe you can enjoy one of these at any time of the day!

“Four of these taken in swift succession unrevive the corpse again.” - Harry Craddock

Corpse Reviver No.2 Recipe
  • Perfection in a glass

  • Refreshing, nuanced and balanced

  • Easily one of my favorite gin cocktails!

Sips

  • This calls for fresh lemon juice so keep that in mind ahead of time.

  • For the absinthe rinse I am going to be using an antomizer so if you have one that is food safe, grab it for a nice finish.

  • This will be served up, so chill your glassware.

  • I’m using The Botanist Islay Dry Gin but you can substitute for your favorite gin or even rum for a twist!

Tips

  1. Begin with a shaking tin

  2. Pour in 0.75 oz. Gin

  3. Add 0.75 oz. of Cocchi Americano

  4. Next, add 0.75 oz. of Orange Liqueur

  5. Then add 0.75 oz. of fresh lemon

  6. Add ice and shake for about 10 seconds.

  7. Spritz your chilled glass with the atomizer of absinthe until evenly coated.

  8. Double strain the cocktail into the chilled glass.

  9. (Optional) Garnish with a cherry, lemon zest or another spritz of absinthe to your preference.

  10. Cheers!
