This is a 300 year old recipe dating back to colonial New England - when taverns were important spots to gather and conduct business. When I first tasted this drink I was surprised at how balanced and tasty it was! The term, rattle skull, refers to someone who talks a lot (so much to rattle their skull), but it's an ominous looking drink with a name I thought appropriate for the spooky season. So if you dare, make yourself a Rattle Skull - and happy Halloween!
How to Make the Rattle Skull
Porter-forward.

Higher ABV but subtle spirits.
