This is a relatively simple cocktail that requires only one bottle of booze. We’re using bourbon here, but feel free to use any whiskey you enjoy mixing with. The Smash is a style of drink that dates back to the 1800s, and is highly customizable - each component of the drink can be substituted to create a new concoction! Hope you enjoy it for the spring season. Cheers!
How to Make A Whiskey Smash
Herbal lemonade.
Woody bourbon undertones.
Reminds us of a mint julep.
Sips
Get creative with this recipe! Swap out the bourbon for gin if you prefer or add in different fruit like cherries, berries & lime.
You know the drill, chill a lowball glass in advance!
Tips
First, cut a lemon in half length-wise.
From that half, cut into four wedges and remove any seeds.
Chop the wedges once more so you are left with eight pieces of lemon.
Place those wedges into the small side of your shaking tin and muddle.
In the larger side of your shaking tin, pour in 2 oz. of bourbon.
Next, pour in 0.5 oz. of rich demerara syrup.
Then add a small handful of mint leaves. (4-8 should do the trick, remove the stems)
Shake everything together for about 15 seconds.
Place a large chunk of ice in your chilled lowball glass.
Double strain your cocktail into the glass.
Garnish with a lemon wheel and a mint leaf.
Cheers!
